Petr Soul, originally from the Czech Republic, started his gymnastics career later than most at the age of 12. While Petr had aspirations for a lengthy career as a gymnast, life had other plans which ultimately led him to coaching. Petr, acknowledging his passion for the sport, began traveling to various clubs to learn more about gymnastics and what it takes to become a successful coach. While in college in Prague, Petr began coaching at Sport Gymnasium Club, home to members of the Junior National Team. It was here that he learned from the best, working with elite coaches from the National Team, as well as coaches and gymnasts from visiting Russia and Ukraine teams. This experience led him to Namibia (Africa), where he accepted an invitation to coach.
After returning to the Czech Republic, he completed his degree in Women’s Sport Gymnastics and coached a private club where again, elite athletes were selected to become members of the Junior National Team. In 1996, Coach Soul left the Czech Republic to bring his talents and passion for the sport to the United States where he began coaching in California before relocating to Houston to join our award-winning team of coaches and gymnasts at Houston Gymnastics Academy.
Educated at the Facility of Physical Education and Sport at Charles University in Prague, Petr earned both his B.S. and M.S. in Physical Education with a specialization in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics. Coach Soul brings a wealth of both national and international experience and knowledge of the sport to our Women’s Team, working to ensure each gymnast reaches her full potential.

Yurany, originally from Cúcuta, Colombia, is not only a valued member of our women’s team coaching staff but she’s also a competitive gymnast in her home country. Educated in psychology and a lifelong gymnast, Yurany brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our women’s competitive team. An expert in gymnastics choreography, she is a Colombia National Champion (2002-2018), 3-time World Champion, 2-time Bolivian Games Champion, 2-time South American Games Champion, 2-time Pacific Rim Champion and Pan American Games Champion.
